Childhood apraxia of speech (CAS) is a motor speech disorder. Children with CAS have problems saying sounds, syllables, and words. This is not because of muscle weakness or paralysis. The brain has problems planning to move the body parts (e.g., lips, jaw, tongue) needed for speech. The child knows what he or she wants to say, but his/her brain has difficulty coordinating the muscle movements necessary to say those words.

Many parents with Apraxia children have reported fish oil to be helpful to improve speech.
ReplyDeleteThere is a growing body of clinical and anecdotal evidence to support fish oil having a positive impact on improving speech—it appears best to have the right dosage, ratio of EPA and DHA and frequency (several times per day seems to be important). Adding two forms of Vitamin E (alpha and gamma) has been shown to result in surges including improvements in motor skills and sensory issues.
Last year my organization licensed a patented omega-3 and antioxidant formulation from a well-known children’s hospital, then manufactured the product and made it available in early September. This formulation has been shown to have dramatic positive results with hundreds of kids. There is a need to have more research and we are working to support clinical research further (learn more about research at: www.SpeechTrial.com)
Many parents have reported dramatic improvements in their children taking our omega-3 +antioxidant formulation known as “SPEAK”, read more at www.speechnutrients.com/testimonials_speech.aspx
My organization NourishLife has a program whereby families with children with Verbal Apraxia may obtain a complimentary box of the omega-3 / vitamin E formulation in PharmaOmega "SPEAK" by answering several questions at www.SpeechNutrients.com (a 5.95 shipping fee is required).
