My Heroes: The Hoyts

Together, Dick Hoyt and his son Rick have competed in 85 marathons and 212 triathlons, including four Ironmans in Hawaii, have gone cross-country skiing, climbed a mountain, and biked across the United States.

So what? Dick has done this without a single bit of help from Rick who has cerebral palsy. In order to participate in a marathon, Dick must push Rick the entire way. In triathlons, Rick must be towed 2.4 miles in a rubber raft, be pushed 26.2 miles in a wheeled chair, and then be pedaled 112 miles in a seat on the handlebars of a bicycle. True love. True Courage.
