Twenty years after the release of “Rain Man,” fans and supporters gathered to honor the film, its screenwriter, and the man who inspired it, Utahn Kim Peek (pictured at left with his father, Fran Peek). Barry Morrow wrote the script after meeting Peek, now 57, in a library. Peek has committed 9,000 books to memory and is the subject of medical research into the workings of the brain. In the years since the movie’s release, the Peeks have traveled the world to spread a message of inclusion and respect for people who are different.
